2013 Scovies: The End is Near
If you’ve been planning on entering the 2013 Scovie Awards, better get in gear, because the deadline is Midnight, September 5. As with the 2012 Scovie Awards, the grand prize winners in the Tasting Division and the Advertising and Marketing Division will each win a Disc-It, the versatile outdoor grill. Each will be customized with the winner’s names on the handles.
Outta the Park’s Feed Your Crowd Photo Contest
Earlier this week, Scott Granai at Outta the Park Eats, Inc. hipped us to a new photo contest on Pinterest which his company is co-sponsoring with Whole Foods and igourmet. The contest theme is “Feed Your Crowd,” and the grand prize is a $500 gift card from Whole Foods Market. You can also win daily prizes as well–$20 igourmet gift cards, plus a free bottle of Outta the Park Original BBQ Sauce.
Grindhouse: Pasilla Peppers with Habanero Chorizo Stuffing
Chorizo sausage is a great idea on paper, but it’s often a lousy idea in plastic. You’d think Mexican (or Spanish) spices and ground pork would be hard to mess up. Yet every time I bite into the grease-laden, second-class meat product from a plastic wrapper that passes for chorizo at my local supermarket, the maker finds new and exciting ways to disappoint me. That’s part of the reason I got my mitts on a Cabela’s Pro Series motorized meat grinder. The other was so I can make my own pepperoni, Christmas breakfast sausage, and ground bacon burgers, but that’s at least two other stories.
