El Pinto Talks Scovies

In News, Scovie Awards by Mark MaskerLeave a Comment

El Pinto Salsa has won more than 60 Scovie Awards over the years, and marketing director Sarah Chavez had this to say about the wins: “The Scovies are one of the most important things we do to market our product line. If we win a category we get bragging rights for a year and it helps increase sales of the winning item. The Scovies is the only spicy foods award contest to enter.”

And the 2012 Grand Prize winner of the tasting division, Mike Bross of Pancali Foods, maker of Panama Red Hot Sauce commented: “Winning back-to-back Scovie awards two years in a row was fantastic and helped open the doors to increased sales, but winning the 2012 Grand Prize Award for Tasting took us to a whole new level! We have quadrupled our distribution, taken our product international, and have been featured in industry periodicals and blogs increasing our product awareness. Having the Scovie sticker on our bottles and in our advertising gives us that ‘little edge’, setting us apart from our competitors.”

The Scovie Awards are back for their 17th year and the Early Bird Special runs until August 5th for you to receive $10 off each entry. The rules are here and the entry form is here. We have new and exciting categories this year. Pre-made tamales and pre-packaged chili categories have been added, as well as a “unique” subcategory to all the main categories. Adding the “unique” subcategory will give you more chances to win with all of your products!

As always, if you enter 3 you get 1 free and if you enter 5 or more you get 2 free. Any questions? Please visit our website www.scovieawards.com or feel free to call Emily DeWitt-Cisneros at (505) 873-8680. She is here to help!
